Installation of a networked geothermal system
Distribution system
A NetGeo system owned by a gas utility uses the utility’s right of way under the street (currently used for natural gas distribution) for the majority of the system, including boreholes and distribution piping.

Customer upgrades
With the utility responsible for installing and maintaining the NetGeo distribution system, customers are responsible for necessary upgrades to their own buildings. These will include the heat pumps that connect with the NetGeo system, and may also include changes to the distribution system (radiators or ducts) and electric panel upgrades. Fully insulating and air sealing is also recommended to reduce the building’s thermal load.
